Welcome to the Kurokawa Lab
At Kent State University in Ohio, our research centers on lipids, ubiquitin, and cell death. We are particularly interested in how lipids, especially those derived from dietary fat, impact cellular homeostasis. We also investigate how protein modification by the small peptide ubiquitin regulates cellular functions. Although the lipid and ubiquitin pathways are distinct signaling mechanisms, their dysregulation can lead to cell death or various human diseases. We explore these critical questions using mouse models and a variety of molecular and biochemical techniques.
We believe diversity and inclusion make our team stronger and more fun. We're dedicated to keeping an environment free from any discrimination, whether it's about race, ethnicity, language, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, marital or parental status, appearance, socioeconomic status, disability, veteran status, political beliefs, or any other personal traits.
This is the lab that pays no attention to boundaries.
